  • VHB tape recommended for flush mounting, the industry standard for tactile signs that will be physically touched and read, keeping the sign stable against the wall and the tactile surface unobstructed during use.

These signs use UV DTF technology to produce a raised tactile print layer on the acrylic surface, suitable for braille-style identification and tactile wayfinding applications. UK Sign Shop does not make any claim that these products are DDA compliant, nor that they meet any specific accessibility standard or regulation. Whether a sign is suitable for your project is a matter for your designer, architect or accessibility consultant to confirm. We recommend consulting BS 8300 or your project's accessibility specification before placing your order.

Tactile and braille signs are typically installed at between 1400mm and 1700mm above finished floor level, though your specific project requirements or local guidance may vary. Please confirm the correct mounting position with your accessibility consultant or specifier before installation.

VHB tape is the recommended fixing method for tactile signs that will be physically read by users. Flush-mounting keeps the sign stable when touched and avoids any obstruction to the hand moving across the braille matrix. Aluminium wall spacers are available but may not suit all tactile signage installations. Consider the end user's needs carefully when selecting your fixing option.

These signs are designed for indoor use. The matt acrylic surface is easy to clean with a soft damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaning materials that could scratch the surface or damage the tactile print layer.

  • Before fixing, confirm the correct mounting height for your application. Tactile signs are typically positioned at between 1400mm and 1700mm above finished floor level.

  • If using VHB tape (recommended), clean the wall surface thoroughly with an alcohol wipe and allow to dry fully. Remove the tape backing from the reverse of the sign and press it firmly to the wall at the correct height. Apply steady pressure across the full sign face for at least 30 seconds.

  • Check the sign is level and secure. Confirm all tactile elements are undamaged and readable by touch before the area is returned to use.
